The Johnston Office is an author’s writing studio Kirk E. Peterson & Associates designed as a space that would not only help its owner maximize productivity, but also serve as a haven for the cultivation of her creativity. To accommodate the development of this structure, the existing garage and carport were demolished. The a new garage with office expansion compliments the Tudor Revival character of the main residence. Interior woodwork in the office is made from reclaimed English oak and includes built-in desk, shelves and cabinetry. Maximizing tranquil wooded and garden views, windows span the office entrance and the length of the desk. Skylights provide additional natural lighting. Site work also includes seamless transition from existing patio to new brick-paved areas, a new carport, decorative gates, and landscaping. This project won a City of Piedmont Design Award in 2013 for “Best Integrated Design for Garage and Accessory Structures.”
