418 BLAIR AVENUE,
Remodeling the Faughnan Residence, a 1908 bungalow, required sympathy for both the home’s historic character and practical challenges associated with updating the kitchen and bathroom of an older structure. This project features custom woodwork in the kitchen, including cabinetry, shelving and a built-in breakfast alcove. Craftsman-inspired lighting and hardware lend traditional sensibility to the convenience of modern kitchen amenities. The bathroom pays homage to the home’s past by highlighting a classic tile pattern that was popular during the early twentieth century. Always conscious of overlapping sustainability and budget constraints, Kirk E. Peterson & Associates reused existing historic wood doors in the bathroom – a design choice that helps blend old and new.
